Ujjain Family Tour Package — A Sacred Journey Your Family Will Never Forget
Why Ujjain Is the Perfect Family Pilgrimage Destination
Ujjain is one of India’s seven sacred cities (Sapta Puri) and home to the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga — one of the twelve most powerful Shiva temples in the country. Every year, hundreds of thousands of families travel here to seek blessings, perform ancestral rituals, and experience the divine energy of this ancient city together.
What makes Ujjain special for families is the variety it offers. Grandparents can attend morning aarti and sit peacefully by the Shipra River. Parents can arrange pujas like Kaal Sarp Dosh or Rudrabhishek. Children discover Mahakal Corridor’s stunning sculptures, the mystery of Kaal Bhairav temple, and the evening glow of Ram Ghat. There is something meaningful for every member of the family, regardless of age.
Ujjain Mahakal Tour & Travels specialises in family-oriented trips that take the stress out of pilgrimage planning. We handle your hotel booking near the temple, arrange private cabs so your family travels together, coordinate priority darshan slots, and provide a local guide who knows every shortcut and ritual — so your family spends time praying, not worrying.

Best Time for a Family Visit to Ujjain
October to March (Best season): Weather is pleasant (15–25°C), making it comfortable for children and elderly family members to walk between temples. This is the peak season — book your package at least 2–3 weeks in advance.
Mahashivratri (February/March): The holiest time to visit Ujjain. The city comes alive with special aarti, processions, and massive crowds. Families who want the full spiritual atmosphere should come now — but book 4–6 weeks early as hotels fill up fast.
Mahakal Sawari season (Shravan, July–August): Lord Mahakal’s chariot procession through the streets of Ujjain draws lakhs of devotees. A powerful and unforgettable experience for families. Weather is monsoon — carry light rain gear.
Summer (April–June): Hot (30–40°C), but manageable with early morning darshan and afternoon rest. Fewer crowds mean faster temple entry.
Sacred Temples on Every Ujjain Family Tour
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga: The main reason most families visit Ujjain. One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the Mahakaleshwar temple is believed to be swayambhu (self-manifested) — the most powerful form of Lord Shiva. The morning Bhasma Aarti, performed with sacred ash, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Mahakal Corridor (Mahakaloka): The newly completed corridor is a visual marvel — 900 metres of sculpted panels narrating the stories of Lord Shiva, surrounded by 108 stambhas (pillars). Children find it fascinating, and families enjoy the leisurely walk through its illuminated pathways in the evening.
Harsiddhi Mata Temple: One of the 51 Shakti Peethas, this temple is especially significant for women in the family seeking blessings from the goddess. The two large oil lamp towers (deepmalas) are lit on special occasions.
Kaal Bhairav Temple: One of Ujjain’s most unique temples — devotees offer liquor to this fierce form of Lord Shiva, and the offering is believed to be consumed. Children are wide-eyed at this ritual, and it becomes one of the most talked-about memories from the trip.
Sandipani Ashram: The gurukul where Lord Krishna, Balarama, and Sudama received their education from Guru Sandipani. This is a calm, peaceful spot that carries immense historical and spiritual significance. A meaningful stop for families.
Ram Ghat: The most sacred ghat on the Shipra River. The evening aarti here — with diyas, bells, and chanting — is one of the most atmospheric experiences in Ujjain. Families gather at sunset to float diyas on the river and seek blessings.
How to Reach Ujjain for Your Family Tour
By Train (Most recommended for families): Ujjain Junction (UJN) is well-connected to Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, and Bhopal. Major trains include the Ujjain Express from Delhi, Avantika Express from Mumbai, and multiple daily trains from Indore (45 minutes away). We provide pickup directly from the platform.
By Road: Ujjain is 55 km from Indore and 185 km from Bhopal on NH-52. If you’re hiring a cab from Indore airport or bus stand, it is approximately a 1-hour drive.
By Air: The nearest airport is Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Indore (IXI) — 55 km from Ujjain. We arrange airport pickup as part of all packages. Indore has flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune.
We provide pickup from any of the above — just share your arrival details when booking.
